I had a Jabsco quiet flush head with fresh water flush installed last winter by the dealer. We are getting a dark alge/mold type growth coming out of the fresh water flush, it will darken the water in the bowl in addition to leaving small alge type particals. This growth does not show up in any other component of the fresh water system (sinks and showers).

I treat the fresh water tank with Aqubon water pruification and the holding tank with Raritan's KO Bio-active & CP Marine Toilet cleaner.

Since I can't run clorine (chlorox) through the head system and don't want head cleaner to get back into fresh water system what is best approach to killing this growth? What device keeps head contamination from getting back to fresh water system and where is it? Checking Jabsco web site for system info now.

Recommission your entire fresh water system.

What you're seeing is in your fresh water plumbing and will start impacting the rest of your fresh water supply. And btw, it's not algae...algae needs light. It's mold, fungi and bacteria that thrive in damp dark places. Products like Aquabon do little more than mask funky taste smell...they don't treat anything. And while it's nice that you use Raritan C.P. and K.O. what's flushed DOWN the toilet has no connection--at least we HOPE it doesn't!--with the water supply TO the toilet!

If you do a search for "Fresh Water Maintenance" you'll find the directions for recommissioning the fresh water system. They DO call for bleach...when used only once a year according to the directions provided, it won't harm anything.
