hay ross!!! how ye doing the cold now?? is it ok?? --not being a smart6ybut.....is cold here too...
It doan get cold in san diego! we have had snow mixed with rain, just plain snow and just plain rain. enough ice to bust yer butt on and just plain unpleasant to be out.

isnt 38 yet--but we hit 48 already ---lol....freezing rain can make the day difficult....we just have rain to mess up boats with plywood decking lol

The video is full of good information, which is more than I can say for some of the posts. All radials are not directional, some yes, but not all. Nitrogen is hype, not worth the extra cost.

Almost all big ST (trailer) tires come from China. I just replaced tires on a 14k 5th wheel and could not find any replacement 235/80R16 tires made in the USA. Therefore I put on truck tires...LT 235/85R16 with the appropriate cargo capacity.

if you insist on placing the tires on the wrong side of the car or trailor they will de-tread--tires are directional---so they cannnot be rotated....keep them on the side of the vehicle/trailor they were initially installed so the tread doesnt come off in an entirre sheet--lol-----never, never , never rotate radial tires.

Where on earth do you get your information from? Must have been the bias-ply salesman from the 60's.. SOME radial tires are directional and can only be rotated front to back but this is usually based on the uni-directional tread pattern. Most non uni-directional tread tires can be cross rotated or used spinning in either direction.

Lots of radial tires are shipped BSW/WW/RWL or black wall / white wall / raised white letter and they are installed which ever way and rotation the buyer wants.

This is a cross rotation diagram straight off of the Michelin web site.. Rears move to front fronts cross to rears and spin in the opposite direction then they were on the front of the car...

I do not think that "China" is the problem. If you purchase a Michelin tire that was made in China, it should be made to the same standards as any of their other tires.

The problem lies with who mfg. the tires. It is too bad we very seldom have a choice when we purchase an item. If you don't want something made in China or some other countries, you may not have a chance to purchase it at all.

Trailer tires don't get as many headlines BUT if shop around now places like trailer parts super store NOW again have and American tire section

I rotate the tires on my Catalina 30 every 5k miles. I ALWAYS keep them on the same side because of the uni-directional thing.

Only when Michelin tire gets into their commercial truck tires do they get position and purpose specific. Their smaller and lighter RV tires are listed as all position.

I worked at a ford dealer and changed out a lot of tires on the recall. I checked the air pressure on most of the old ones and they were always at 15 to 20 psi. The door sticker recommended 28 psi on the explorers. I would guess that running the tires low on air for years in the Florida heat didn't help and then when they raised the speed limits back to 70 and 75 and now people are driving 80 plus, maybe any tire would come unglued. The tread is actually glued to the carcass. I had an F250 that lost most of tread on I75 over Tampa Bay when I was going about 70. The tire held air all the way to the tire store even though it was riding on the steel belts. I kept the speed to under 30 and they were 33-12.50's. You should have seen the look on their faces at the tire store when they went out to change the tire that was still on the truck, LOL.
