The Danforth is a great anchor used properly. It was first used for the D-Day landing. The landing craft had them on their stern. As they approached the beach they would drop the anchor. After the troops got off, they used a large winch to pull the landing craft off the beach and go get another load. The beaches of Normandy were soft sand and they used lots of scope. The Danforth worked incredibly well.
