I am restoring a 19 ft Mariner Daysailer that I recently acquired. It is going very smoothly but recently a friend told me to be sure to check the bolt and fixtures on the retractable daggerboard. How do I access this? Also how can I determine what year the boat is? Thanks Gary

19 ft Mariner Daysailer

Gary, I don't know too much about the Mariner, although one of the guys in the yacht club that I used to belong to, has one and loves it for lake sailing in New Hampshire. If it is possible to get at the centerboard by partially taking the boat off the trailer so that you can let the centerboard down to check for any kind of excess lateral movement, you can avoid having to take the pivot pin out and disturbing any kind of seal that it may have. If the board looks good and it has no excess play in it, you can at least check the centerboard pendant line and clamp for wear. I'm guessing that it's sitting on a trailer. I'm sending you a link to a Mariner web site that will have the answer that you seek. Check it out. Good luck.
