I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to remove my old 705 Hood roller furler.
I used the jib halyard as a temporary forestay. I got the pin out and removed a number of bolts from the bottom of the roller furler. As I was doing this, the furler slid down over the tabernacle, which couldn't be pulled back out.
Then I commenced to pulling the hell out of the furler for the next 30-45 minutes. It didn't budge. I'm assuming I should have removed the tabernacle before sliding the furler down the forestay.
I left it attached and went home last night considering that I now will need to drop the mast, remove the roller furler and get a new $88 forestay from Rudy at DR Marine.
Any suggestions? or am I right?
Kevin
