Got myself an A70D! so psyched! West Marine is offering $200 gift card and Raymarine has $500 rebate, so it's basically half off! Now I just need to build a console to hold it and my other displays.

I'm not sure where I'll put the transducer...

Aren't there different transducers? I think the standard one is for transom mounting. Does that mean there is a cable hanging down the back of the boat?

I think so, I emailed raymarine to see if I can use the ones already installed, but they are from '94 and '84, so I'm not sure if they will. The transducer is individually packaged, so I may try and exchange it.

Transducer mounting

You can use a transom mount transducer shooting right through the fiberglass hull. Several on this board have done it. Put it in a baggie of water and move it around inside the hull till you find a good spot. You want to be sure you avoid any bubble in the glass. When you find the right spot stick it down. Several ways to do this. Some use a piece of PVC with a cap. Some like me, just stick it right to the glass. I used Marine Tex, but some on this board have just used a blob of silicone caulk. Apparently that works as good as anything. Just make sure there are no bubbles in whatever you use to stick it.
