Happy New year to all. I am ordering a new jib for the coming season. My sail maker is trying to talk me into a D-4. Looks great, most info I have seen is OK, but anyone out there have any experience with the D-4??

My sail maker is talking $300.00 to $400.00 over a tri-radial. He would order the sail sized with the fibers, mylar, etc. He would trim edges, place eyes and crinkles, etc.

Steve, I have a Hunter 26.5. My sail maker has not confirmed the price as yet. I will let you know, I hope soon.

Be sure to spec out a similar sail on this website too. I think you can get a new jib for under $1000 (Doyle). Good quality and they stand behind the product on SBO.com

Steve, Thanks, appreciate the info. Their prices do look good and they have a good reputation. Interesting that I have not gotten any response/info from people on the D-4. My sail maker had one he just got in to trim, etc. They really look great. The fibers are supposed to follow the force, load pattern in the sail. Makes sense. Kind of similar to finite element analysis, the number of fibers and direction corresponding to the loads in the material. I would just like some input on other sailors' experience with them.
Thanks, Chaos
