I recently purchased a used roller furling genoa for my 24 ft S2. The luff, leach, and LP all seemed to be about right for my boat. However, even when placing the jib block as far aft as possible, the sheeting angle does not appear to be correct when sailing close hauled. The problem appears to be that the clew is too high and therefore the down vector of the angle is too great, and the aft vector is not enough. This particular sail is a leach cut, ie the seams are parallel to the leech of the sail.It seems to me if I had the sail recut, removing about 2 ft from the luff at the foot and angling up to the head, it would reduce the length of the foot as well as lower the clew by changing the angle at the head of the sail. Since the sail has a sunbrella cover sewn along the foot and leech, this would also minimize the amount of work to recut the sail. The current dimensions are approximately 27 ft luff, 22.6 leech and 17 ft. The lp seems to be about 15 ft.According to the previous owner, the sail was made for a Rodges 28 Cutter rig. The sail is in almost brand condition. I was looking for a cruising type furling sail for the boat as I have two other nice sails for club racing that I did not want to put UV covers on.thanksPaul Marx
