Cutlass bearing replacement-shaft size

I just bought the boat and during the haul-out inspection the boatyard recommended replacement. I agree after reading some of the forum comments. They had to order a bearing and measured the shaft as 1 1/4 inch. I've seen one inch shafts mentioned a lot for the 27's. Is this correct or am I wasting another haulout to install the wrong size bearing? The engine is the Renault 8HP. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Communication problem?

It may just be a matter of understanding. Almost definitely the shaft is 1". But the cutless bearing is probably called a 1 and 1/4 inch. See related link.http://pacificmarine.net/metallic.htm
