cutlass bearing on the 37

Hello All, Any insight on replacing the cutlass bearing on the 37? I'm curious about the skeg being in the way of removing the shaft. I've dont this job on my old hunter and had to drop the rudder out of the way but what does one do with the skeg??? Or is the shaft short enough to clear it? It really doesnt look like it is (at first glance) thanks,howie

answering myself

After looking at the shaft from directly below i see it is offset to port very slightly. It must clear the skeg that way. Right now it's going to be next years project since i have my hands full redoing the bottomhowie
