While cleaning the bottom of my boat I discovered that the cutlass bearing seemed to be sliping up the shaft about an 1 1/2 inches. Has anyone had or seen this problem? If so I did you go about correcting the problem, is there a special tool or press?? Any information would be greatly appriciated. Thanks, Charley

you most likely have to replace the cutlass bearing...

and once in position you tighten down the two set screws on the side of the strut. The set screws may need to be replaced as they should be pointed to bite into the outside of the cutlass bearing.
