Has anyone replaced the side stripes on the cabin with some other stripe combination? I am thinking about doing that to give the boat a little different look. I would appreciate any photos if possible. I am thinking about installing a boom kicker. I'm sick of the topping lift. Where is the best place to purchase one and what is involed for the installation? Thanks for your help? Lee Y

Stripe removal

I removed the 'wave' stripe on my H19. The first side I peeled, scraped and used "OOPS" to remove the adhesive residue. It took about 10 hours. My son in law came over when I was starting the opposite side. He recommended using a blow dryer to make it easier. I took my wife's hair dryer and removed the entire stripe in about 30 minutes. It only takes a few seconds for the heat to loosen the adhesive. There was virtually no adhesive left on the hull. OOPS took care of few small spots of adhesive. The hair dryer trick is worth a try. The boat was a 93 model. Good luck, Mike

Stripes

I removed the original stripes and replaced with factory supplied to match . I know thats not what you asked . The hair dryer mentioned works great . If I were going to do what you are I would photo shop it and just fool around until I got something I was happy with . Mike

mlsalwa - Close-up, pls?

mlsalwa, I can see in your picture the lift is missing & I can see the vang, but the boomkicker looks so thin. If you can post a close-up I'd appreciate it. Love that hanked-on jib bag. I picked one up just like it on eBay this spring.

boomkicker

The unit comes with two sets of fiberglass torsion rods. I ended up using the thinner ones because the thicker ones put to much tension on the boom.I will probably be going to the boat tomorrow or thurs. will try to remember to get a close up picture

Boom kicker installation

What was done to install the boom kicker? Is it just screwed to the mast and boom? Does it come with a swivel? Thanks Lee Y I see your port is Muskegon. We keep our boat at Habour Town. We have a parking space and launch the boat each time we go out. They have a great ramp and an excellent facility. We had it in a slip at Torreson for a number of years but got sick of the restroom / shower. Because they worked on the boats right next to the slips, we had to clean the deck almost every time we went out. The Torreson's are wonderful people and very helpful.

boomkicker

Installed a boomkicker on my former H23. Worked fine. Great customer service!! Best prices I've found is on eBay. Search for boomkicker and there's a site that sells them Buy it Now. Good prices for the model 750 you'll need. For my new old Ericson I'm thinking of getting a Garhauer solid vang.

Stepping the mast with a boomkicker

Shouldn't change the procedure at all. Install the boomkicker after mast is raised.

Boom kicker and raising - lowering the mast...

I guess I should be more precise with my question.. How EXACTLY is the boomkicker attached to the mast?? Does one have to bolt/unbolt the setup every time you step the mast? Is it pretty easy to do? Can you do it 100 times over the coming years without damaging the mast/brackets or any other part of the system?

My boomkicker

on my 240 had a bracket that I attatched to the mast with machine screws. The kicker attatches to that with a clevis pin and cotter ring. The attatchment to the boom is a bracket held on with machine screws and the end of the kicker has a tee shape that slides into it. If you lift the boom up the kicker will slide out of the bracket and then you pull the clevis pin at the mast to removeThe boomkicker. Very fast and easy to install and remove.

Where did you get the stripes

Tell me. Where did you get the factory stripes. I call hunter looking for the factory stripes and logo and was told they weren't avalable.

West Marine

I just bought striping from West Marine. That was the easy part. Getting the old striping off was the real work. I found that a heat gun was the best method. Slowly heat the old stripe and remove with a putty knife. Be sure not to over heat the gel coat. Use lots of Acetone. Then, you should still be able to see the old line of the old striping to use as a guide. Use blue painters tape as a guide to set the new striping against. Step back often to check for smooth lines. Once the blue tape is set to your satisfaction, attach the new stripping to the blue tape. Looks great on my boat even if its not perfect. Hey, the boats 20 years old. Brian
