I'm looking to have a pennant/flag made to honor my fathers navy service.
Sadly he's been gone a few years but I think I want to fly a pennant/flag of his ship whilst sailing sometimes .
Does anyone have experience with custom flag makers they recommend?

My understanding is that all US Navy ships fly the same pennant:

“The commissioning pennant of the United States Navy is "blue at the hoist, bearing seven white stars; the rest of the pennant consists of single longitudinal stripes of red and white.””

Flying this pennant on a private sailboat would amount to a declaration that it is a US ship of war.

If you have found a description of a pennant unique to an individual US Navy ship I would be very interested in the design.

After more research, I found that “unofficial ship’s flags” were created. You could use the design of a ship’s patch on a light blue field to approximate such a flag. You might be able to find a picture of a specific ship’s flag, but I could not find one for my ship. Most ship’s patches are available on the web.
