Several weeks ago I ordered from Catalina Yachts a complete set of new cushions (foam and covers) for my 1978 C27 (#3691). The cushions were delivered yesterday and they are FANTASTIC! The price was around $1,250 + shipping. Initially I was going to purchase foam from a supply house and fabric then pay someone else to make the covers. The cost would have been double what Catalina charged. The cushions have the vinyl backing just like the originals. Plus the foam is better quality than what I was seeing in the supply houses. (Note, I'm not talking about Catalina Direct, but the boat manufacturer, itself, in California.) If you're in the market for new cushions, I encourage you to call the Parts Department of Catalina Yachts. Paul "Hamlet's Mill"

Catalina Cushion Question

Paul, Sounds like a great deal! Does Catalina need your old cushions for patterns or do they still have the templates? Do they offer material choices? Do you have the traditional or Dinette interior. How long did they take from time of order to delivery? Thank You, Frank Davanzo

Cushion order details

Frank: If you call Catalina, they will send you 4 or 5 fabric samples to choose from. They asked that I send all of my cushion covers (not the foam) to them so they'd have an exact match. I stuffed all of the covers into one box and included a letter that specified the year, make, hull number, etc. of my boat. I have the traditional layout, with 8 cushions in all (including the small one in the forward berth). The cushions were ready approx. two weeks after Catalina received my old covers. I wasn't billed until the cushions were ready to be shipped to me. Shipping from California to Rochester, NY took about a week. By the way, the back-rest cushions for the salon came with new female-end snaps, which I hadn't even considered when I was thinking of having someone else make the covers. Because I sent Catalina my old covers, the new snaps line up perfectly with the original male-ends. It is well worth the money. Let me know if you have any other questions. I am very pleased with the cushions. Great customer service, too. Paul

I did kind of the same thing. Because

I did kind of the same thing. Because Catalina does not do green any more my wife and I ordered some fabric (Sunbrela) http://www.outdoortextiles.com from the web and had it shipped direct to Catalina yachts. After looking at the foam (some was moldy) so we ordered the foam and had them use the fabric to cover the foam. We have not gotten them back yet. It has been a week and a half. We did send them the old covers so they could put the snaps in the correct places (as they requested). The price is more I think it is $1800.00 but we have a U shaped settee and a 1983 C30. Late CW

Seems very pricey

This seems like a heck of a lot of money for new cushions. I have quotes of between $25 and $50 per square foot of seat (price includes backs) for new cushions with foam from two area canvas shops. I can't image there is more than 20 sq ft in the 320. Eric

Use telephone to get in touch with Catalina Yachts

Bob They just don't do email or web stuff well. They're still busy making boats! Use the phone or fax, not e stuff to avoid disappointment. Stu
