We are considering replacing the cushions in our cabin and were wondering what fabric others have used when replacing cushions. Thanks for the help.

Cushions

Hi Kenneth, I am in the process of recovering all of my cushion right now. I am using Sunbrella material for the outside cushions. For the inside cushions, I have elected to use a good quality regular upholstery fabric. The inside cushions don't have to have the UV and waterproofing protection that the cockpit cushions require. Also, the sunbrella material is not as comfortable as other types of materials. The regular fabric is less expensive and also is helping me keep my costs within budget. Luckily, my mother is an excellent seamstress and is doing the work for nothing.

Check out www.sailrite.com. They have special boat upholstery fabric, plus a lot of other very useful material. Roland

Re-covering...

I went to a local auto upholsterer - got a pretty good deal on having all my cushions redone (with the exception of the v-birht, which is still in great condition). The shop owner gave me several options for fabric, including a couple of styles that he had on special. I ended up with an automotive upholstery and got a great deal. The fabric was meant to stand up to the tortures of an auto's interior here in Texas, and has done very well so far (a year and a half). I never would have found this if I went anywhere else - so check with your local merchants! Best Regards, Rob
