curved helmsman seat (386)

DH would like a captain's chair, but the chairs that sit on cockpit benches are for flat seats. Our helmsman seat is curved and therefore we need a chair with a curved bottom OR a pad of foam with curved bottom that I can then put a chair on top of. I heard there was such a product at a boat show a few years ago. Can't find anymore info. Any of you know about this curved foam piece?

Second the suggestion. West marine has the same thing in stock at the Town Center slightly less too. It is great for lounging anywhere. Very comfortable.

Thanks guys. We have those fold up chairs and I love them as a crew member. What we're looking for now is a captain's chair set up. He wants to feel like he's at home on his throne lol. I see many great options but they have to sit on a flat surface.

This should curve to the seat profile.
We have the same issue on our boat. I was thinking about making something out of wood to provide a flat surface for a seat.
A number of owners have mounted a removable boat seat on a short post at the helm. I think Nick did this on his H36, maybe he can provide a picture.

Ah the king needs his proper due. ;-)

I had one for my previous boat. But don't remember the details of exactly what I did. However I think that I just bought a Captains seat from West Marine or some similar place, and put a couple wood strips under it at each side so it would be able to sit on the rounded portion. This also allowed me to move it as the boat heeled.

I would strongly recommend one with arms. Makes a big difference in comfort. Like:
