Is there a resource that graphically shows the direction of currents? I think I've seen this somewhere but cannot remember where and can't find it.
Thnx

Current info is typically shown on most (if not all) nautical charts. Additional current charts are available for specific areas.

I'm looking at my charts & don't see currents marked. Many currents shift, reverse or move depending on various issues.

Thanks ross
The first site seems too large scale to show the smaller coastal currents I'm looking for
The second seems spotty in coverage, or it doesn't work well with m droid

Pilot Charts

I have the pilot charts. They show current and prevailing winds, month to month, for all areas. Pretty neat, and easy to use.

I noticed in our area we no longer have current information published on my charts where 10 or 12 years ago it was there.

You may be looking for the annually published yellow softcover book: Eldridge Tide and Pilot Book. It gives tidal flow directions, speed etc for many locations. Don't know if there is a digital versions. Google it!

For Pacific Northwest (Puget Sound and Canadian Gulf Islands) we have Washburns Tables - a set of tables published yearly which work together with an atlas of pictorial views of the current direction and strength. You look up the date and time in the table and then turn to the appropriate page in the atlas to see the visual. Pretty cool.

Good Luck!
