I am looking for a current prediction chart of Martha's Vinyard Sound. I remember having one a long time ago. It was a large book similar to what you find in The Eldridge. It was a map with the directions and velocity of the currents. Does such a book still exist?

Thanks!

Maybe Coast Pilot is what you are thinking of.
Current predictions are like political prognostications. They tell you what should happen but not what will happen. Do read Eldridge's synopsis of the currents south of the Elizabeth Islands.

Download OpenCPN (free) and NOAA Charts (free) on a computer and ....

... you will also have tide and current information. Above is a screen shot I did a couple minutes ago and it shows the tide and current stations in the area. I clicked on the Gay Head Current Station and the window popped up with today's current graph and data. You can also click at the bottom left of the window and go back in time or to a future date to see what it will be.

Can't beat the cost and you can use it at home or on the boat,

Well, I guess different strokes, different folks. Although I will say I have been relying on Eldridge for 35 years to plan cruises in the Elizabeth Islands, Buzzards Bay, Vineyard Sound, LI Sound, Maine, etc. and have always found the information therein to be accurate and helpful. The price is getting a bit steep though. Also, I should say that most of the chart plotters out there (mine are Garmin and Raymarine) have useful information on tides and currents as well.
