Thanks gang for you output on the cure for the fast idle problem with the Tahatsu 5 HP. I probably should have thought of this first before bothering all you people but I finally cured the problem. Here is what I did. First I took the motor to the end of "F" dock in Dana Point (beautiful place) and put my cheek real close to the cowl and spoke soft choice words to it then I kick the SOB into the water. Then I gave the oars to the first mate. So far you could not find a better well to propell the dinghy. She smells much better, Idles smoother, protects me at nite, and for the last 34 years that she has been moveing my "Dinghy" she has not broken down or failed to start. Ah life is good in "Dana Point" Thanks again for your input gang "MIC"

Tohatsu problem -

I don't think you should be bragging about polluting the environment. Methinks what you did was illegal and shows conduct not becoming of a sailor.

Does She have a better warranty?

Ha Ha I have thought about doing the same thing with my mercury! As far as the guy before "conduct unbecoming a sailor" give me a break! That little motor MAY hold 2 ounces of fuel in the carb and MAYBE 4 ounces of oil in the foot.
