Has anyone rigged a 222 for a crusing spinnaker? If so did you use the original jib halyard or was a new one needed further up the mast? Where did you locate the sheet winches? Photos would be great. Thanks.

Tod, I Had a 22 and mounted the halyard for this sail on the masthead above the forstay. This is the best way because when you jibe, the sheet is released and the sail travels around forward of the forstay and is sheeted in on the other side of the boat. Be sure that the sheet that is not in use when you hoist this sail is also routed around the forestay. Use your normal sheet winches with turning blocks aft like you would for a genoa.Hope this helps...Ron

I have a asymetrical spinnaker on my 222 and it's great! I rigged a block at the masthead to hoist the sail. As I sail singlehanded a lot I also use a spinnaker sock... I also have cleated blocks towards the aft portion of my cockpit to lead the sheets - no whiches needed..
