good little boat!
I bought my old 22 at an estate sale, and have used her for three years now. I'm amazed at what this little sloop will take and handle. She won't point, but ... Point is, assuming you're talking cruising bays or large inland lakes, I think cruising one of these boats is limited more by your tolerance for the tight quarters than the boats' inherent abilities. I think it would be irresponsible to take one coasting for the following reasons: the forward hatch isn't up to boarding waves the forward hull sections are very flat. If you get her pounding badly for very long, something is going to give. when the motion gets bad, the lack of fore and aft lower shrouds gets the mast flexing in the middle (watch the mast on a pounding reach sometime). Do that for too long, and again something is going to give. when something does give, putting you dependent on the outboard, she hobby horses badly enough that the outboard can go too. All of the above is manageable in bay or lake sailing. Coasting is too much to ask. IMHO. Tom Monroe Carlyle Lake
