Hello sailors! ken and I took our hunter 40 on a long trip- thru channel islands, up the coast, down the coast, etc. We managed to encounter 40 knot winds at Santa Cruz island for our first anchoring attempt, (went well) and remained there for 36 hours waiting for wind to die. I cooked chocolate chip cookies in 35 knots of wind, do i qualify for any awards? when we left (went well) went back to Chanel islands harbor , then sailed down to Marina Del Rey. Managed to encounter santa ana conditions, boat did great, we learned a lot. wind gusted to 40 again! needless to say, we also know how to reef now. the legend can stand up to it as long as the sailors know what they are doing. now after getting back and resting up, i wondered if you knowledgable folks out there can recommend a good mechanic in the Newport Beach area, we have transmission issues and dripless shaft issues. John Richards. Look him up in the directory. He owns a 410 "Jacks Place". He is local and a member of BCYC. I would trust his referral. Sounds like a good trip (short the boat stuff). Rick D.
