We have a Cal 44 and the cabin sole is quite creaky/noisy in spots. Any ideas how to "quiet it down"?

Not sure Ann...

But we had a Cal 27-T/2. In the C-27, the floor simply rested on the pan. Cal was an early innovator in using an engineered FRP pan instead of glassing in stringers. If your C-44 follows this construction method, you might be able to lift the floor and see where there is some wear on the pan where the floor has been rubbing. If so, a little double faced carpet tape will do the trick. My floor had not been screwed down. If yours is, a screw into the pan where it is rubbing may also eliminate the squeak. Fair winds,

SALON SOLE

I'm a big advocate of "sail coat" (sp.) and use it on everything with great results. If you can get through the sole at any location do so and then spray the heck out of the under floor area. Several locations would be even better. It's worth a try before tearing up the sole. Novelman
