I just had some crazy thought about how to obtain the neccessary mat'l and equiptment needed to refit/rebuild/repair the free boat. I wonder what kind of imput this is going to recieve?!
Since I am cash poor i have been scouring the "free" stuff on craigslist for mat's to start rebuilding my free 33ft Morgan OI. What about all you sailors out there that replace your parts "just cuz" for whatever reason. They still work but maybe you just want new or updated technology. Instead of selling it on the marina postit board or listing on craiglist or ebay you could just send it to me? In return, i could give "free" use of the "free" boat-soon to be named "Free Wiley".
Now the boat is in sunny central west coast of Fl, beautiful waters, ilsland, waterside restaurants, etc, etc.
Alot of people charter down here in the winter months to get away from the cold and get their sailing fix? So, whats ya think? I would at least have to have signed wavers of no liability or some such. But, i think it would be doable. I could come along and captain or with sailing experience you could bareboat.
Just a thought. also i could start a "boat repair school". curiculum:
SA101-SANDING 101
SA102-PAINT PREP
SA103-ROLL AND TIP METHOD
ETC ETC
sounds good to me! Patrick
