wanted to have a "no poop" law for boaters, too! ;) Glad they nixed that, or else our brethren from Washington State would have been forced to point out Victoria's wonderful sewage (treatment????) system.

Sad Really ...

Something like 34,000 gallons of sewage per day goes untreated (screened for solids only)into the sea from Victoria's sewers ... Victoria is the capital of BC ... for BC to require boaters to obey a "no-discharge" law would be quite a trick. In 1993, BC promised to have primary treatment in place by 2002 and secondary treatment in place by 2008 ... hasn't happened yet. The BC government has put up 1/3, the Federal government will pay 1/3, Victoria only has to find 1/3 of the cost. About $100/year or one cent a flush ... Sad .. really sad ...
