I live near Detroit, my 1988, 28.5' Hunter is at Jefferson Beach on Lake St. Clair and my cradle is at a marina in LaSalle, on the Canadian side of the Detroit River! The cradle is there because (cheaper :) ) that is where I stored it for the winter. Because I don't wish to risk the shallow water around that marina again, and would rather have the boat closer, I need to truck it back to the USA. However, though I measured the cradle several times, I cannot find the measurements! :( Does anyone out there know the measurements so I know how big a truck to rent?

rock the cradle

I have moved two different cradles, one for a 28.5 and last month, a bigger one for my 33.5. Each time I either rented or borrowed a flat-bed trailer which worked well and is probably cheaper and easier to load/unload than a truck. I'm talking about the type of trailer you would use to move a car or a piece of construction equipment, like a Bobcat. I don't remember the measurements of the 28.5 cradle, but I would guess that its about 6' wide and about 12' long, max, approx. 1000 lbs.

28.5 Cradle

I have a 28.5 cradle down the NJ shore. Next time I go down (80 miles from home) I'll get the measurements for you. Plz revert with your email address. It may take a week or two.

Double snowmobile trailer

I have a friend with a 36 foot and he is planning to use a double snowmobile trailer to move his cradle about 200 miles. It has the advantage of the tilt feature for load and unload, plus should be cheaper to rent.
