Cracks in bilge area of Catalina 28

I'm lookng at a used 28 and found cracks in the crossmembers which traverse the bilge and divide it into several compartments. Best I can describe the components! The cracks I noted were more than superficial, I think, and were all on the starboard side of the bilge. The owner pleads ignorance. Before I go ahead with a survey, was curious if anyone had any ideas? The boat is in pretty good shape, seems only to suffer from lack of use. I appreciate any comments or thougts. Thanks, Dave.

What year 28 is it ???? You could call Catalina service dept and describe the cracks to them and see if they are aware of and delt with the problem before and get recommendations from them. Call a surveyor of your choice whom you might want to work for you and describe/or show photos of cracks to him. I would think he would give some direction without charging a survey fee.
