Cracks Forming Around Cleat

i have a 1996 Hunter 26 purchased new in 1997. My boat spends it's summers in a marina slip in Minnesota. I just noticed this weekend that there are three cracks in the surface gelcoat that have radiated in different direc- tions out from the bow cleat. This is very disturbing to me and suggests that it is not structurally sound? I have not used the cleat for anything but the normal mooring for the boat, a line going out to each side to keep the boat from banging into the sides of the slip. Any suggestions on what I should do about this... does the hull warranty cover this problem? Sincerely, Greg Holmen S/V Loon-A-Sea

You have company Greg! My H23.5 (1993) has developed the same "spider veins" and one crack at the stern cleat is over a foot long now. I took a stroll around the marina but the Catalinas, Beneteaus and older Hunters don't seem to share this problem. We share your concern. Is it cosmetic or structural? Is there a reasonable repair? And here...

My 310 has no cracks at the bow cleat but does along the inside of the toe rails where they transition into the horizontal deck surface and aft at the base of the arch pads (no arch on this one) and at the aft-most scuppers. I am sure they are not structural but disturbing none-the-less.
