Catalina 310 Sandusky, OH
I have an '00 Catalina 310 that has developed a crack in the lead casting on the trailing edge of the keel about 22" down from the hull. It only opens when the boat is on the hard. The crack is about 1 1/2" in from the aft edge of the keel and is about 12" long. It will open up to 1/2" at the widest point. I have dutifully filled it in with West System, faired and painted only to have it reoccur the following spring. The boat yard where we keep the boat in drydock says that it was a flaw in the casting when the keel was made. Any words of wisdom on a more permanent fix?
