Am looking to buy a Hunter 25, 1983. There is a crack in the gel coat that looks to extend into the fibreglass. The current owner indicates this is a common problem with Hunters and that it was done when it was put up on jacks recently after being pulled from the Chesapeake. Is this true??? Thanks!!!

H25 cracks

The hull of my 1983 Hunter 25 has a soft spot where it rests on the trailer rollers but no visible cracks. Good luck.

Guess its possible. A survey would tell you if you have inadequate thickness in the hull. Thats what I would question. Peal back the liner if any and see what the other side looks like. Gel coats cracks are common. Usually try to fix the stress source then fix the crack. Fiberglass is great stuff, no matter how old, you can always make it like new again. If everything else checks out I go for it. steve

repair of crack is easy

Grind/sand the area affected. Build area back up with epoxy resin & then bottom paint.
