crack at front of keel

So I'm due to go back in tomorrow, sitting taking a rest when I turn round and see the following crack where the keel meets the rest of the hull. I've attached two pictures, one from the side and one from head on. The crack in the bottom paint extends about four inches either side. Is this a common problem with these models? Should I be worried about this?

I would guess that it is just a crack in the fairing compound that was spread to cover the joint between the fiberglass keel stub and the lead ballast keel. If you had no leaks while in the water and nothing ugly is oozing out of the crack, just clean it out and fair it with some epoxy putty. My $0.02 anyway.

Had the same thing, worse than that. Routed it out, filled with 5200, and never had a problem. Now going on fifteen years.

No fairing between hull and lead on my 1980 36. From memory, I can see the joint line along the keel's entire length.

One abnormality of mine is that the keel lead appears to have been mis-molded a bit. Was about 1/2 inch to short for the length of the keel stub!

I'll be inspecting on April 1-5 during my haul-out.

I put her back in the water, and there appeared to be no leaks.

Next haul out I'll reinforce the area, probably like Allan has done.
