(True story).... I almost fell off the stool when the sailor spun this one... Upon taking delivery of their boat they were in the process of returning to their 'new home' and elected to follow the string of crab pots thinking that it must be the 'center of the road'....and drove the rig into a bridge before realizing that there was a higher span with lights and bumpers that would accomodate the vessel.... Fortunately the forward speed was slow enough that no damage was done....and they lived to sail another day. (Whoa...) You got a better one than this?

eyes right

A fellow Aux observer noticed a sailboat approaching a swinging bridge near Godspeed Opera House on the CT River. The sailor was busy pointing out the architecture of the opera house and neglected the bridge. De-masted but no one was hurt.

What about the story of the couple who bought a new runabout and complained to the dealer that they couldn't get it to plane, despite the hi-performance eggbeaters on the transom? Engines & props were brought in, checked, and still no go-fast. Dealer went out with them to see what was wrong and found out that they launched the boat but kept the trailer fastened underneath so they could pull out at destination with their other car...

Whale Snagged on Crab Pot Line

While returning home on our boat this afternoon I heard a call over the VHF about a whale near Edmonds which was snagged on a crab pot line. The line still had the crab pot attached. Last week it was loud sonar from a US Navy destroyer stationed at Everett (just a few miles from where this whale was sited). This is just one more problem endangered wildlife have trying to survive in a world dominated by mankind. The cumulative effect of man-created pollution, destruction of their food supply, and hazards like these, is it any wonder that one species after another in this world is dying off? We'll see what the local TV news coverage has on this tomorrow morning.

Hope the outcome was good...

Truly sorry about the whale John...but I was making an attempt at the 'lighter' side of life, however lame it was.... Seemed to me that there was suffient environmental bashing going on elsewhere... (90+ on that one...what a run)...
