Cowl ventilators need painting

The paint on the two large cowl ventilators is seriously chiped and pealing. Can anyone suggest something other than sanding to remove the old paint ? I plan to recoat with Nicro vent paint. Before someone says.. don't be cheap.. replace.. these are factory original on a 1984 H 34, and a non-standard size. Thanks, Jim

Cowl Vents.. got the paint, need way to remove old

Got the paint at West,marketed by Nicro, still need a way to get the old cracking stuff off. Any other help?.
