This is my first winter with the 1981 oday 25 that I purchased a couple months ago..she is out on the hard and I have been trying different ways to try and cover her with no success..I am storing with the mast up and do not want to take down..also I removed the boom which now come to think of it might have helped with the cover..I do not want to shrinkwrap..so I have been trying to make a pvc frame to support some big tarps but I cant seem to be able to figure out a good way to secure the pvc..does anybody have some pics of a pvc frame that I could make and that would create enough of an angle to deflect snow.

thanks for the info...i just tried some searches with that frame but did not get any info on pvc frames...now I am thinking of using 1'' pvc pipe and slipping that right over the stanchions (with the lifelines off). then attaching a 45 degree elbow..and after doing that on both sides of the boat take another piece of 1'' pvc pipe and bend into a backwards u and attach to elbows..it sounds good in my head but will probably fall to pieces when I try it..
I used 2" pvc. Glad I did. 45 degree fittings would make it easier to construct and it wouldn't be as tall. I slipped some 2x2s into the ridge pole to make it stronger.

and it'll make the job a whole lot simpler and sturdier. Gotta watch out for all the wind and flapping and snow and ice and all. It'll give you a chance to inspect the rig and fittings too.

My boat came with a pvc frame already built and it is quite elaborate. The vertical sections are attached to the stanchions and originally used hose clamps to attach but I simplified the building by using the 3M stretch wrap style plastic to attach the pvc to the stanchions. The 45 degree angles start just above the top of the stanchion and attach to a ridge pole. The section around the mast was made with 90 degree angles and t's to form a rectangle and secure attachment for the ridge pole. The hard part will be getting the tarps to fit around the shrouds. I shrink wrap my boat so welding the plastic around the shrouds is not too tough but getting tarps to stay put will be difficult. The system is very strong after the wrap is shrunk but I'd be a little concerned about it if any snow collects on the tarps so make sure your ridge pole is high enough to shed any and all snow.

What About just droping the mast. Then rmoving the lifeline post. Lay your mast across your rails stem tostearn and drape a tarp from lowes across that and tie it down. With the lifelines down the tarp sheds rain ( and snow if u get thet stuff where u live) without any low spots.
My 222 is on a trailer in my yard, so I took a post hole digger and sunk 3" pvc in the ground to build an arch. Every other year I go to Home Depot and buy a new blue tarp. Have had one last three years but kind of rare, the Christmas winds and winter cold take a toll on the tarp.
