Does anyone make a rubber or plasic cover to keep water and dirt out of the receiver for the table base?

Amazing coincidence

The cover for a trailer receiver hitch will fit the square in the cockpit. It keeps some of the water out but does not seal. It works pretty well on dirt. Mark

Thanks

Thanks, Mark. I'll look for one that would look right. I had started on making one from oak.

Be sure it's not too large.

Dick: Be careful putting a block of wood down in that receiver. If you make it too tight and the wood gets wet (and it will) it may expand and crack your fiberglass. You may want to get a couple of pieces of StarBoard or KingBoard (stabilized poly board) and try that. It cuts and works like wood. There is even a glue for the stuff now. You can also just screw to together with short deck screws or stainless.

Freezing?

Any concern with water in the table receiver freezing, expanding & causing the receiver to crack and leak?

Yes sir and suggest a cover

It can expand that little hole and crack aand cause a leak. DO cover that sucker in the winter. Moonshine does not freeze I do not think. What you think jimbo Crazy Dave

I made one out of styrene

I Purchased a pack of .100 evergree styrene and testors solvent from a hobbyshop. I cut and glued 4 pieces to make a small rectangle, wide and deep enough to fill entire hole. I then cut ang glued another piece, approx a four inch square on top. I then filled the rectangle part with shreaded lead used for weighting model railroad cars, this prevents the assembly from floating out from any water seepage. Have no problem with this, except for the styrene yellowing, since 96.
