Cost of installing forced air heat

We are in the process of buying a used Catalina 1987+. We were wondering how much it would cost to install forced air heat? Is this standard on any of the models?Thanks for your help.

Forced air

Forced air is definitely the way to go but the cost is pretty high. I think it's in the $2-3000 range (from what I've heard). If you're mechanically inclined you can buy the system & install it yourself but I'll bet the warranties wouldn't apply then. Good luck & stay warm!LaDonna

12,000 BTUs

I installed a 12,000 BTU reverse cycle air conditioner in early spring. I mounted the unit in the port side cockpit locker. With three air outlets (v berth, head, galley) it heats and cools adequately - even this summer in North Carolina's high temperatures. The system I used is Mermaid. They're in Florida and have mail order dealers that sell it for less than you can buy it directly. I paid just under $1400 and did the job myself in 2 days. Good luck.
