Nothern Door County

I don't have any cost numbers. Sister Bay now has two marinas. The municpal one and a new one north on HWY 42. It is associated with a boat dealer up there (YachtWorks?). It opened just this year and, as a result, the marina at Ellison Bay's Cedar Grove Resort definitely had openings. It is a little dicey getting in and I don't think has any real services (fuel/pumpout), but it used to have an Island Packet 48 docked there so it can probably handle your 42. It puts you in good proximity to get to Washington Island.

Why door county???

For about the same drive you could stay in Menominee or Marinette and save on slip rental, noise and crowding. Door county is only a 2 hour sail away if you like to visit and transient fees are $1.50 per foot.

Sturgeon Bay's Harbor Club by far best value

The Harbor Club in Sturgeon Bay is far and away the best quality and value. A 40' slip goes for about $3k, storage at SBYH is $25/linear foot outside. Harbor Club has best quality floating piers, private bathroom/showers, access to Bridgeport Resorts adjacent pool facilities. They include weekly pumpouts on request at no add'l charge. Yachtworks is far more proximal to the resorts of northern Door, but the slip rental is almost double and storage with them is mandetory if you want a slip. Currently there is a 20-30 person waiting list for anything under 60' (i checked two weeks ago). With a 42, its about 4 hrs from Sturgeon Bay to Sister Bay. Nice sail.
