The locking pin for my port genoa car is frozen. I've used penetrating oil to loosen it without any luck. I recently saw a post suggesting the use of PBlaster as well as straight vinegar. I was hoping to find a cost effective solution without having to replace the entire car and track.

Another idea I've had was to take the track and block off and drill a hole from the underside of the track where the pin is located. The hope is that I can loosen it from the underside of the track.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would continue to apply penetrating oil and I would tap the pin and the car front and back with a hammer. These repetive shocks may break the hold corrosion has on the parts. I would also in between taps try to twist and lift the pin with a pair of plyers.

You might want to try a litle heat. The surrounding metal should expand faster than the pin and may loosen.

Benny, thanks for the reply. I will keep applying the penetrating oil and see what happens.

Thanks again for the info. I finally removed the track and drilled out the pin from the underside of the track. The pin was so corroded that I had no choice but to drill it out. My next issue is trying to find a replacement pin. I had a rep from West Marine call but they told him that they do not sell the replacement pins. They said that I would have to send in the block for overhaul. It looks like I will be making my own replacement pin.

Cheers,
Troy
