Correct impeller for a 1990 C30 MkII - Universal

Twice in the last month, I've started my engine and not seen water from the exhaust. My thru-hull is open; what is odd is that *sometimes* it works, sometimes not.

Yesterday, I saw that no water was pumping out the exhaust; then, after shutting off the engine and sailing for a few minutes, I tried the engine again; this time, water came out immediately and pumped consistently until we got back to the dock.

I think I need to go ahead and have someone replace the impeller for me, just to be on the safe side; I suspect that perhaps one of the fins on the impeller is broken and is jamming the impeller--does this make sense?

At any rate: can anyone tell me the type of impeller that I need and where I might best buy it?

Thanks,

Bob

Thanks Stu; that's exactly what I have.

I could probably do it myself if I knew where it was in the engine compartment; I'm going to hit the link you sent me and see where that leads.

Thanks!

Bob

No reason you can't do it yourself. It' one of the easiest things to do on that engine.

M25?

The website (toad) includes a (gasp!) picture of the engine! :)

I'm actually reading about the impeller on the link you sent--it's exactly what I needed.

Thanks!

Stu, do you know which water pump was standard on a 1990 C30--Sherwood or Oberdorfer?

I see 2 different impellers, depending on which one I have...

Thanks,

Bob

OK, bought a couple of impellers for a Sherwood pump; until I get into the engine I'm not sure which I actually have, Sherwood or Oberdorfer... does anyone know which of these pumps came standard in a C30 with a Universal c25 engine?

Thanks,

Bob

No standard. Some had the S some had the O. The O is a superior pump, better and fewer different materials, easy to swap out the faceplate & impeller, the S has the screw holes in the rear of the pump - don't ask, yes, it's stupid.

Oh well... I have a 50/50 chance of having bought the right impeller... :)
