Cored hull sealing

How is the top of the cored hull of a 450 Passage sealed at the toe rail?

While this picture is not of a P450 hull, the technique is similar. The hull has a flat lip at the top where the deck rests. 3M 5200 is applied the entie length to join the deck to hull at the toe raill.

In the picture bright red is the mold and the pink is the fiberglass.

Thanks, it helps and confirms my understanding. With this configuration in mind, is the joint a typical place for water to seep into the cored hull?

That could be a possiblitiy. Since the core is only above the water line and is for weight reduction, another possible intrusion is where the hull is actually drilled, such as the A/C water discharge, port lights, etc...

How were you able to determine the cored hull has moisture in it? I have never look for such damage.

Currently, it is only a suspicion. I will be having it looked at further to determine if the core is wet, how much, and where the intrusion, if any, is located.
