Coring is above the waterline as it is with most of the Hunters

Some boats did have coring or wood inside the hull. It depended on the model, year and manufacturer.

The '94 295 was a big change for Hunter, an attempt to move beyond the build and quality problems of the mid to late 80's that destroyed their reputation and still haunts them to this day. I believe you'll find that your boat has a solid fiberglass hull below the waterline, and is cored with plywood above the waterline. I know that's how my '95 336 is built, which is just a slightly enlarged 295.
