I will be changing a lot of running rigging soon so my question is what is your favorite cordage and why?

I have recently purchased some excellent cordage from Cajun Trading; I saw some of their products on Ebay. They sell a product equivalent to Sta Set at a much lower price. http://www.cajuntrading.ca/

Outlast anything else I have tried. Stayset is my favorite. Yale can be found cheaper, but I did not get the service from it.

I like Sta-set too.
I also like Sta-set (New England Rope) too. My rigger buddy likes Yale lines (says it is easier to work with). Both companies make excellent line. Just don't be tempted to use larger line than the boat calls for.

Boat size and function
Don, There is a line for everything out there. I have no idea what size boat you have but if you are not max racing, Polyester (sp) anything will be good for running rigging. If you can get doublebraid polyester for .50 less than the "Super no Stretch"... it is worth it. If you race, and you are experenced, spend what it takes. If you are a new boat owner and just learning...keep it cost effective (cheap) chances are you will sell the boat in less than three years, about the time it will take to learn the advantage of higher priced line. There are too many things to spend money on to over spend on something that may not matter to you. r.w.landau

I used to use a lot of Sta-Set & Sta-Set X...
...but have switched for many applications to the Samson XLS line sold by Defender. Less stretch for comparable tension and higher breaking strengths when compared to NER's Sta-Set. Samson's been making rope for eons. NER's Sta-Set X is still my preferred halyard line due to low stretch under high loading (plus the fact I can afford it) altho' I find it fairly obnoxious to handle due to its stiffer nature. Both were relatively easy to splice, I thought, despite warnings from Brion Toss than Sta-Set X is somewhat difficult. (Marlow line by comparison was a painful experience). Don, you tell us so little (about your boat, your sailing, etc.) that all these anecdotal comments, mine included, may/may not be relevant to you. Some good advice here.
I too went with Cajun Trading. Time will tell but it seems great and went through the winter very well. They splice and shackle too for a great price. Hmmm, Terry, using WM for a savings comparison is not the best choice. Everyone is cheaper than them.

Red fades
I prefer different colors because I run a lot of clients on the boat. They aren't expected to know a jib sheet from gym shorts, so I just holler, "Pull on the blue." For bankers who aren't too bright and pull on the green, I have to amend that to, "Pull on the other blue." In any case, red fades worse than other colors.
