Coral Sees H5.2 Daytona Beach
I just bought this boat and yes, the spelling is correct according to the boat title. It's a cute little 17' boat, made in 1982. I've searched all over the Internet and found zilch. Anyone know anything at all about these boats?

Thanks,
DJ

Never heard the name before and nothing online, as you said. Cute little trailerable though, with a trailer to boot.

I've shared everything I know about the boat. It's sitting in my backyard now and I'm trying to figure out what I got :) Might be helpful for when something breaks and I need parts. Hopefully someone will recognize it!

Dig around and see if you can find an identification plate attached to the hull. Could be in the transom area. H could stand for Hunter. As far as needing parts........ I doubt there is anything on the boat that you couldn't find a part for.... as long as you realize that very few sailboats made their own hardware... rarely would you find anything proprietary like you might find with an old car. Since you don't even know what kind of boat it is, how would you know if the existing parts are OEM anyway?

It will be much more gratifying to upgrade all the hardware, rigging and fixtures, i.e. modernize..... rather than searching forever for some obscure piece that won't effect the boat's value.

ID Number

From the title:

Identification Number: DGF 174490482

If this helps at all....

Here's what I found by googling "H 5.2 sailboat". Could be a Hunt 5.2. The boat appears to be identical to the Vagabond 17, Holder 17 and the Hobie Daysailor. Is there an insignia on the sail that you could use to help identify. Here are a few links I found by searching Hunt 5.2. Start doing you own research and you may find some owner's groups to contact and get more info.

Yes! It is a "Hunt" 5.2 (5.2 meters = 17') It was my first sailboat! Bought it around 1991. Reasonably well built, made for a very good first sailboat, very round bottom, very forgiving, easy to set up and sail. It was my and my children's first sailing experience and we were hooked, have not owned a power boat since.

My research back in 1991, found that it was made in Mobile, AL, company went out of business. I did have an "original" brochure, not sure what I have in my files now, sold it in 1997, I will look and see what I have.
