Copies of companion way key

I am assuming that the lock on my companion way washboard is
original to the boat. It is about 3/8" wide and about 2" long and
almost rectangular except for some small notches at the end.

Problem is that I only have one. Does any one know how to get
copies made of these? I'd like to be able to have a spare key.

I was lacking a key entirely for mine and went to an old-timey locksmith
who hand-filed one to match my lock. (My problem then was that I
discovered the sliding hatch had enough give in it that the washboard
lock couldn't keep it closed--and I had to install a separate hasp. Then
I added a brass "door handle" type, as ORC offshore racing rules require
the same locking device to be opened from either the cockpit or the
cabin -- seemed a good idea for sailing in heavy weather with the
washboards in and one person above and another below...) Good luck.
