Does anyone have some brillant ideas on locating a reasonable size ice chest on the 22s? All of my 32-40 quart coolers are about 16.5" high and do not fit under the galley. (Only about 14.5" clearance) I've been considering raising the galley package up a couple of inches so the coolr will slide under, and then modifying the steps so that the spacing of steps, galley top and companionway is about equal and less severe a distance for my smaller guests. Has anyone done similar?

Probably not relevant, to your boat, but...

I'm not sure how the cabin of the H22 is laid out but what I have done for my H23 is to replace the companionway step with a Coleman 54-Quart cooler. It gives me a larger place to set foot when going through the hatch, it's conveniently located for grabbing beverages, it doesn't interfere with the main salon's double-berth setup, it fits perfectly (no sliding at all!), and it's more stable than the companionway step EVER was! Only problem I have with this arrangement is that the cooler lid keeps pushing in the cigarette lighter on the (customized) electrical panel. ...Just some food for thought. --Jon Bastien H23 '2 Sheets to the Wind' Key West, FL
