Sherry (Pickwick Lake,TN) I'm not sure I have the answer to your qiestion. Many years ago I left sailing and moved into power boats and eventually ended up with high speed jet boats. My sons loved those boats. Unfortunately, everytime they brought them back to me they were in pieces!! Also, wherever we went I was the boat driver for delivering stuff to the campsites and pulling the skiers. About 15 years ago my wife and I decided to get back into sailing in order to slow down and smell the roses and we bought a sail boat. My sons hated it. They went out once and that was it. They said the sail boat was to slow and they never asked me to use it, which was fine with me. On the other hand, my daughter took to it very nicely. All she wanted to do was drive the boat. She did not care if it was under power or sail. Actually, she became a good driver. As she got older, it was harder and harder to get her on the boat but that is the way it goes but she did fit us into here schedule here and there. Sometimes she would bring a friend but most often not. After she married she brought her husband along but she was a better sailor than he. He must have sensed it because he stopped coming. I liked that because it gave us a chance to sail together. I really have treasured those sails because our daugthter died suddenly 5 days after 9/11. Two tragic events in one week was a lot to deal with. I've yet to get over either.
