Convert to a pop-top

Is it possible or difficult to convert a non-pop-top companionway to a pop-top?

Simple answer: no

Although I'm sure there is a way, you'd be much better off selling your current boat & buying one with a pop top. The work that would go into doing that would be waaaaay more than you'd probably want to take on and a yard would probably charge you waaaaay more than you'd want to pay. LaDonna

simple project...

Been there done that, A friend of mine had a slider on his 22..the sliding edges had worn down to almost nothing and the fix was to repair or change the design....We opted to change the top design... We used 4 pices of aluminum angle aproximately 24 inches long...two attached to the top with the angle facing down at each side...two on the hatch rim also facing down and about 12 inches forward of the uppers... between the two angles we put aluminum strap....one at each corner forward on the lowers....as you lifted the top it would rise and move forward...we attached a small cord to the top forward to wrap around the mast and attach back to the top...to hold the top up..
