Does anyone know which edson controls are the correct ones for a Honda 9.9 outboard? I have a 2001 and want to mount the engine conrols on the binacle and after looking at the edson catalog I see there are two basic types. Thanks Dave O

the hunter 260 used the edson steering which I think was the 335 system. There are two style controls but I suggest the one with the gear shift on the port and the throttle which is on the starboard. The Edson number may be #870 but you will have to check. They are not cheap as the cost is about $340 retail. The cables are the 3300 series and I suggest the 11 foot lengths. As for the Honda, I am not sure when they changed the motor but the new ones will not work but the older ones will and you will have to get their cable attachement kits in order to attach the cables to the motor.

...the type that has the shift handle at the back that you have to lift up or push down on. It's a bad design needed only for an Atomic Four. It also makes it impossible to mount a wheel pilot. Also make sure you get the all plastic cables, not the metal wrapped. The metal appears to mcause problems over time. And Dave; Thanks for the measurement on cable length. That willl save me a few hours!

I just installed a 2007 honda 9.9 on my 260 with Edson pedestal side controls no problem. Teleflex 3300 cables 9 feet long worked fine. The motor did not come with remote setup originally, I purchased the linkage parts from the dealer and installed them. The parts cost about $140.00

I know what you have
ONe thing you do not have and not sure if on your motor is the tiller handle. Suggest getting it just for emergency if it can be put on. Good luck. Thanks for advising on lenght of cables.

my motor came with the tiller handle
and I left it on. I had to disconnect the throttle cable to the tiller to install the remote cable but I left it inside the cowling just in case.
