I have been reading some posts regarding a diesel engine called Vetus. A brand new 11hp for my 27' hunter cherubini would run about $5000. Anyone have any experience with these? Parts available etc. Thanks
There is a place in Holliston mass, that will sell you a 16hp for about $4800.00. I don't have th ename right in front of me but if you search the web for vetus diesel in Holliston Mass, you will get thier web site. I am told the motor mounts on the Vetus don't require any rebedding the floor of the compartment, as they are the same width. Wish I had more to offer.
If I'm not mistaken, I think the Vetus is one of several brands of marinized Mitsubishis. Among them the Beta is probably the best. They have a 13hp model that is the largest you need. There is also a new Yanmar out now thats worth checking out.
at least a 15 HP engine for your Hunter 27. Back when I put my Vetus 16HP in my Hunter 27 I did some checking and to reach maximum hull speed I needed at least 15 HP.
