I'm considering a 1985 Hunter 33 (77-83) ==> Any suggestions, opinions, and especially experience you may be willing to share would be sincerely appreciated. The boat looks a bit less beamy than I'd prefer (might be a bit cranky, and inclined to roll a bit?), but since it's only 2 of us, sailing in warm waters with a lot of islands and main to stretch land legs on, we feel positive. Have sailed a considerable amount. Born in Brasil and lived many years in Belize/Glover's Reef. The boat is in sound shape. thx again Bob

There's a forum on this site for Cherubini Hunters where you may have more info. Good Luck.

Cherubini H33

The cherubini 33 is a good boat, capable and fast. Properly sailed it will never embarass. In December, I sailed my 79 H33 with a cold front from north side of Choctawhatchee bay out at Destin and in at Venice, about 350 land miles in only a bit over two days. From Venice we sailed on to Dry Tortugas. In may and june it took me from the Panhandle to the Abacos in the Bahamas and back with only a shifter cable dislocation for trouble for the entire trip. The H33 has lots of good features. solid stainless steel rudder shaft, lead keel, stainless rudder tube with packing nut, a good single handing cockpit arrangement, aft head that's really usable, good head room throughout, serious design features for offshore sailing like small cockpit, high companionway bridge, plenty of handholds in cabin and with galley, head and cabin spaces confined enough to wedge yourself in when necessary. there is even a very useful built in leeboard for the port cabin bunk. The folding rotating table works in about a half dozen different configuration to use the cabin and galley space to best advantage, the deck stepped mast is not prone to the structural problems common to some other deck stepped designs, all the toerail bolts are fairly easily accessible from below...it goes on and on. Any boat that old of course needs a good examination by a competent authority to determine physical condition and uncover problems. You can find out pretty anything you need to know by looking under boat information on this site for the H33 and by searching the archives.

Thank you

very much for your very informative review. I do appreciate it very much. I am planning a trip to visit it in Titusville, depending on some of the sellers details on the questions I have sent him. It has a brand new Yanmar 20 & new bottom painted and .066 micron barrier (no blisters found) last year. Yanmar has 100 hrs. Selling it at around 12500, but missing the main, dodger, & bimini canvas'. Furling new headsail & storm jib. Hoping it looks and feels as good as it sounds! all the best Bob Pullen
